Tata Zest is a wonderful car that not only looks stylish and attractive but also has all the important features that can attract a customer towards it. There is a new "Signature Tata Grille" that bears the logo with a chrome lining for giving a glossy look on the top. The front fascia is enhanced by a combination of projector headlamps with light guide position rings and LED daytime running lights. The side view mirrors have ORM inserts while there are sharp lines along the body colored door handles. The Tata Zest is available in both diesel as well as petrol variants. The car's petrol version comes with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is developed by the Honeywell Technologies. Its injectors have 8-hole nozzles that provide more efficient combustion and great atomization.
The diesel variant uses the trusted Fiat-sourced Multijet engine that produces 90 PS and 200 NM of torque. Tata Zest has more power and torque when compared to Hyundai Xcent and Maruti Dzire. Additionally, the diesel Zest has an automated manual transmission, which is manufactured by Magnetti Marelli. The Zest diesel also comes with a sports mode in which the uplift takes place nearer to the redline for giving the rider an extra punch.
When it comes to comfort, the car has more than the needed interior space in all dimensions. Tata Zest has a tall body that contributes to its spacious interior. It has adequate seating space for five adults, which you can't find in any other compact sedan car in India today. Additionally, all the seats are fully supportive and well-bolstered. There is an improved NVH that adds to the plushness in the cabin. The petrol variant has a superior refinement than the diesel ones. There is a more audible engine noise inside the cabin, but all the vibrations are kept efficiently at bay. One feature that demands the most appreciation in the Tata Zest is the quietness inside the car.
The safety and security
There are a number of quality features in the Tata Zest that makes it one of the safest cars on the road. The company has added ABS and commercial brake control system in the car that maximizes the safety of passengers. Additionally, Zest has standard equipments such as impact beams, an engine immobilizer, and ELR seat belts. However, the company only offers airbags on the top of the line XT grade. Other active and passive safety features consist of elements, such as rear parking assist and burglar alarm.
As per the company's claim, the Zest diesel variant gives a mileage of over 22 Kmpl under normal conditions. However, the exact figure is near 18 Kmpl in city driving. It has been claimed by Tata that the Petrol Zest will offer a mileage of more than 18 Kmpl, which is slightly lower than other cars in the same range. However, you should keep one thing in mind that the Tata Zest is a heavier vehicle than its competitors.
